AIDS Assistance Program was founded in Palm Springs, California in the spring of 1991. At that time a small group of concerned citizens, led by the late Gloria Greene, Joanna Jakway, and Jeannette Rockefeller, provided meals to members of the community with low incomes living with HIV/AIDS. Since that time, the AIDS Assistance Program’s client roster has grown from approximately 20 to 500 people.

AIDS Assistance Program is managed by a five-member volunteer Board of Directors whose primary purpose is to raise the funds to support the organization and its food voucher program. Our budgeted food voucher expense is $600,000 annually. One hundred percent of the organization’s operational expenses are generated through a growing private donor base, local business support, and grant funding. Only two full-time employees manage the organization from a small, no-frills office in Palm Springs. All of AAP’s support personnel are drawn from a pool of a few dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Voucher distributions are scheduled for the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 9:30 AM until 12 Noon. All scheduled events will be posted on this web site and notifications will be distributed to the client base and/or the donor base as applicable.
